Unique content makes a website rock and a small business grow. Customizable email automation and marketing provides the engagement with subscribers that is necessary to do online business. Email content needs pizzaz, something interesting that gets attention, entertains, or solves problems. Providing informative email on a topic that subscribers are searching for is a sure-fire winner. Plus, using an intriguing email title to get their attention will result in more viewers. Whatever the method or reason, you can’t engage if you don’t have an email provider that you are comfortable using. In my previous article “5 Best Small Business Email Hosting Providers” I mentioned that if you don’t understand how to use the email marketing automation features then you should consider a different email provider because it’s about the content, not the provider.
Still, there are reasons for choosing a specific email service provider. A few reasons include features needed for your online business. I’ve used and tested quite a few email providers; I can think of at least seven reasons Convertkit is a strong candidate for online course creators and designers. Most email providers do a decent job of email automation; they wouldn’t be in the business very long if they didn’t. However, ConvertKit takes a different approach to creating, segmenting, and managing email automation. Based on experience, here are 7 reasons ConvertKit is an excellent email service provider option for entrepreneurs, course creators or digital product designers.
Advantage 1- Convertkit’s use of email tag, sequence or segment helps engage readers better.
Convertkit uses email tags, segments, and sequences with customized email forms and marketing automations. Both email tags and email segments are applied to subscribers. A segment is a subset of an email list of subscribers. Convertkit doesn’t use lists like most email providers. Instead, tagging and segmenting subscribers with the use of link triggers and filters controls what the subscriber receives in an email sequence or automation. The result is better engagement and content management; the result allows subscribers to receive what they are most interested in. For example, tag and triggers allow bypassing subscribers that have already purchased. Those subscribers still receive other emails; they just don’t get email offers on products they already have. That prevents them from being potentially irritated. It’s a powerful feature that is useful when selling online courses or digital products.
Advantage 2- Convertkit’s use of multiple email tags per subscriber for easier email automation
Tags are useful and multiple tags per subscriber are possible. Convertkit tags applied to subscribers create “groups” of subscribers by interest. Sending emails targeted towards those interests is a powerful technique to offer content and products that subscribers truly want. Using tags is a two-prong approach: 1) by sending email to interested subscribers and 2) by limiting emails from those who are not interested.
Advantage 3- Convertkit’s easy email templates create professional forms and landing pages
Convertkit forms are easy to create; simply start with a Convertkit email template, change the color, add an image or graphic and modify the text. Stylish email forms can be embedded, popup/modal or a full landing page. Creating a professional-looking email form from a template is intuitive and only takes minutes. Include explicit GDPR opt-in or GDPR consent in you need it or simply use the double-opt-in if you don’t. If you really feel artsy, customization beyond the form and landing templates is available through CSS.
Advantage 4- Convertkit’s email link triggers, surveys and other options to engage with subscribers.
Using Convertkit email link triggers let you survey your audience any time to get feedback on what they need or are interested in. This is a great way to customize email content. You can also set up unsubscribe options that give the subscriber control. They could just unsubscribe to “web design techniques” but still receive emails on “promos & services” you may offer.
Advantage 5- Convertkit easily embed forms using a variety of methods.
Make different forms for A/B testing or select a specific form to override the defaults. Simply go to each page or post and change what form should show at the end of the content.
Advantage 6- Convertkit visual automation and simple rules are straightforward to create.
Automation is available using visual automation rules. Link triggers, product purchases, and additional rules can be added through a list of rule statements. Rules are if-then type statements with drop-down selections. Rules with the visual automation or the simpler rule menu, schedule and send email content to subscribers using a how, when and what approach.
Advantage 7- Convertkit’s online Support via chat.
Convertkit offers training through their online videos, documentation and helpful online chat. The ConvertKit support has tremendously improved; when the online chat is busy there’s a notification that pops up which is helpful to gauge the length of wait.
